Level: Intermediate / Head Barista Development

This upskilling session is designed for café owners, head baristas, and experienced staff who already make coffee but want to strengthen their understanding and refine their skills. Rather than following a fixed curriculum, the session is tailored to focus on the areas most relevant to the café or individuals attending.

The course can cover the transition from casual, experience-based coffee making to proper, repeatable coffee knowledge. This may include developing head barista–level skills such as dialing in espresso without relying on preset recipes, understanding how grind size, dose, yield, and brew time interact, and learning to adjust extraction confidently based on taste and conditions throughout the day.

Depending on the needs of the group, the session can also focus on grinder setup and calibration, espresso workflow and efficiency, milk texturing for different drink styles, consistency across staff and shifts, and identifying and correcting common espresso and milk issues. Broader coffee topics such as freshness, roast style, basic brewing theory, equipment care, and supporting or training junior baristas can also be included.

This flexible format makes the course ideal for cafés looking to up-skill existing teams, develop stronger head baristas, or address specific problem areas in their coffee service. Content, depth, and focus are confirmed at the time of booking to ensure the session delivers the most value for the participants.
