ABOUT

The West Valley, centrally located in Costa Rica between the provinces of Alajuela and San José, is renowned for its exceptional coffee. At altitudes ranging from 1,200 to 1,700 meters, the region's highlands provide ideal conditions for growing high-quality Arabica beans. The climate features a distinct dry season from December to April and a rainy season from May to November, with temperatures averaging 17 to 23 degrees Celsius. Volcanic soils rich in nutrients and excellent drainage further enhance the cultivation of coffee plants, predominantly Arabica varieties like Caturra and Catuai. Known for their balanced acidity and notes of chocolate, coffees from this region are prized worldwide. Emphasizing sustainability, many West Valley farms practice shade-grown coffee, organic farming, and hold fair trade certification, fostering environmental protection and community support. This dedication has earned the West Valley international acclaim, with its coffees frequently winning awards and capturing the admiration of specialty coffee enthusiasts globally.
