ABOUT
Our Kenya Muthuzuuni AA is a vibrant and beautifully balanced single origin, combining the bright character of Kenyan coffee with a silky body and a clean, refreshing acidity.
In the cup, green apple and blood orange bring a lively, juicy freshness, while toffee adds a rich sweetness and helps round out the coffee. The result is a coffee that feels bright and expressive without being overly sharp, with a smooth texture and a lingering, balanced finish.
The coffee comes from the Muthuzuuni Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS), which was established in 1979 and is home to around 1,000 smallholder farmers. The cooperative is made up of approximately 330 women and 690 men, with each farmer cultivating an average of around half a hectare. For many of these smallholder farmers, coffee is grown alongside other crops such as beans and maize, as well as dairy cattle, goats and sheep.
This diverse farming system plays an important role in supporting the livelihoods of the local community, while the cooperative provides a shared structure for farmers to produce and process their coffee. The long history of the Muthuzuuni FCS reflects the established coffee-growing traditions of the region and the generations of knowledge behind these coffees.
In the cup, Muthuzuuni AA is lively without being sharp, combining clean citrus acidity with a smooth, silky texture. The grapefruit and mandarin bring freshness, while cinnamon and herbal undertones add depth. Its rounded finish makes it an excellent coffee to enjoy as a filter or brewed black, while still offering plenty of character when prepared as espresso.
Expect a clean, vibrant and silky Kenyan coffee with bright citrus, subtle spice and a beautifully rounded finish.
