At Sipi Falls in eastern Uganda, coffee farming is the backbone of many smallholder communities. In recent years, growers here have been working to overcome challenges around productivity, quality, and access to global markets. In 2023, Kawacom Uganda Ltd partnered with USAID through the Uganda Smallholder Farmer Livelihoods Initiative, supporting farmers with training, market access, and sustainability programmes.
Through this initiative, more than 10,800 farmers were connected to export markets and supported in achieving Organic and Rainforest Alliance certifications. The result is better-quality coffee, improved incomes, and a more sustainable future for farming communities in the Sipi Falls region.
In the cup:
Aromas of ripe strawberry with hints of pomegranate and melon. Medium acidity balanced by a medium-heavy body.
Freshness & Resting
Our coffees are freshly roasted in small batches, but we recommend letting them rest for about 7–14 days after roasting before brewing. This short resting period allows carbon dioxide to escape and the flavours to develop fully, resulting in a smoother, more balanced cup. Freshly roasted beans can taste sharp or gassy, while rested coffee reveals its true sweetness and complexity.
To get the most balanced cup out of this coffee, we recommend brewing this one with a water temperature at around 88°C. See our brew guide for more detailed instructions.
